We are dedicated to protecting your privacy and providing you with the highest level of security at any point of interaction with us. This Privacy Policy describes what personal information we collect, what we do with it and how we protect it.
This policy (together with our Terms and Conditions) sets out the basis on which any personal data we collect from you, or that you provide to us, will be processed by us. Please read the following carefully to understand our views and practices regarding your personal data and how we will treat it. By continuing to use our Mobile banking service and other Dhabiti Sacco related services, you accept and consent to the practices described in this policy.
1. about Us
Dhabiti Sacco is a licensed deposit taking Sacco regulated by the SACCO Society Regulatory Authority (SASRA). It was started in the year 1987 under Registration number CS4918. It opened banking services in Maua Town in 1991. The Sacco was founded by then Coffee farmers from Igembe Cooperative Society, Tigania Cooperative Society and Miathene Cooperative Society. The Sacco opened its common bond in the 1996 and now has diverse membership coming from salaried and non-salaried individuals, investment groups (chamas), corporates, sole businesses, and from people in the diaspora. The Sacco changed its name from Meru North Farmers Sacco to Dhabiti Sacco Ltd in the year 2012 .
2. Use of the Application
This Privacy Policy applies only to your use of Dhabiti Mobile banking service (M-banking application)
- Information We Collect:
3.1 Personal Information: We may collect personal information such as your name, address, email address, telephone number, and financial information when you apply to become a member of our Sacco or use our Mobile Banking Facility.
3.2 Usage Information: We may collect non-personal information about how you use our Mobile Banking Facility, including your IP address, browser type, device information, and usage patterns.
3.3 Cookies and Similar Technologies: We may use cookies and similar technologies to collect information about your browsing activities on our Mobile Banking Facility or within our applications. You can manage your cookie preferences through your device or browser settings.
4.0 Use of Information:
4.1 We use your personal data to provide you with our Mobile Banking Facility services, process your transactions, improve the quality of services and products offered, send notifications, offers and promotional materials, protect our rights and interests as well as the rights and interests of third parties, and comply with generally applicable laws.
When you download the M-banking app, we shall ask for your permission (consent) to view your messages in order to verify your identity
4.2 We may use your information to communicate with you, provide customer support, and send you important updates, such as changes to our terms or policies.
4.3 We may use non-personal information for analytical purposes, to improve our Mobile Banking Facility services, and for marketing and advertising purposes.
4.4 Finally, we may receive information about you from third parties (such as credit reference bureaus) who are legally entitled to disclose that information
5.0 Storage of Information
5.1. All information is stored on secure servers. When you register, we will ask you to choose a password which enables you to access the mobile banking service /application, where applicable. You are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share this password with anyone.
5.2. In addition, we (or third parties acting on our behalf) may also store or process information that we collect about you. We have put in place technical and organizational security measures to prevent the loss or unauthorized access of your personal information. However, whilst we have used our best efforts to ensure the security of your data, please be aware that we cannot guarantee the security of information transmitted over the Internet from your devices.
6.0 Information Sharing:
6.1 We may share your personal information with third parties, such as our service providers, business partners, and regulatory authorities, to facilitate the provision of our Mobile Banking Facility services and to comply with legal obligations.
6.2 We do not sell, rent, or lease your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes without your explicit consent.
7.0 Data Security
7.1 We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.
7.2 While we strive to protect your personal information, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security as you transact over internet especially via public internet spots.
8.0 Mobile Banking Facility Specific Terms & Conditions
8.1 The Mobile Banking Facility provided by Dhabiti Sacco is for the personal use of the member and is not transferable.
8.2 The member should keep the Personal Identification Number (PIN) strictly confidential and must not reveal such particulars to any person at any time under any circumstances. In the event of loss, theft, or unauthorized access, the member must immediately notify Dhabiti Sacco and provide a written confirmation.
8.3 The member is responsible for all transactions processed through the Mobile Banking Facility.
8.4 Dhabiti Sacco has the authority to debit the account with all applicable charges and any other liabilities related to the use of Mobile Banking Facility.
8.5 Dhabiti Sacco reserves the right to refuse to carry out instructions if they believe they do not emanate from the member.
8.6 Dhabiti Sacco shall not be liable for any loss or damage incurred as a result of non-acceptance or non-adherence to instructions given through the Mobile Banking Facility.
8.7 The member shall not attempt transactions unless sufficient funds are available in the account(s).
8.8 If the account is a Joint Account, the member is jointly and severally liable with other joint account holders for all transactions arising from the use of the Mobile Banking Facility.
8.9 The member accepts Dhabiti Sacco’s records and statements of all transactions processed by the Mobile Banking Facility as conclusive and binding.
8.10 Dhabiti Sacco may amend, supplement, or vary any of these terms and conditions and fees applicable at its sole discretion with or without notice to the member.
8.11 The use of the Mobile Banking Facility shall be subject to Dhabiti Sacco’s prevailing general business conditions, rules, and regulations.
8.12 Dhabiti Sacco may cancel, withdraw, or renew the Mobile Banking Facility without prior notice or any reasons given to the member. In the event the member decides to terminate the use of the Mobile Banking Facility, the member shall give Dhabiti Sacco not less than seven (7) days’ prior notice in writing and obtain a valid receipt thereof.
8.13 The privileges extended for the use of the Mobile Banking Facility shall be determined, varied, or amended at the sole discretion of Dhabiti Sacco.
8.14 All transactions by the use of the Mobile Banking Facility shall be governed by the laws of Kenya, and the courts of Kenya shall have jurisdiction in all matters relating to such transactions unless the member and Dhabiti Sacco agree to refer any such dispute to arbitration.
9.0 Changes to the Privacy Policy
9.1 We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated Privacy Policy on our Mobile Banking Facility or by other means of communication.
9.2 We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we collect, use, and protect your information.
9.3 Please note that this Privacy Policy applies to Dhabiti Sacco’s Online and Mobile Banking Facility and does not cover the privacy practices of third-party websites or services that may be linked to or integrated within our Online and Mobile Banking Facility. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of such third parties before providing any personal information to them.
10. Your Rights

- You can edit your personal details via the Member Update Forms at our branches. We maintain a procedure in order to help you confirm that your personal information remains correct and up-to-date or choose whether or not you wish to receive material from us or some of our partners.
- In addition, you can object to processing of your personal information, ask us to restrict processing of your personal information or request portability of your personal information. Again, you can exercise these rights by filling appropriate forms at the Sacco
- You may unsubscribe from certain email communications by following the Unsubscribe link in the email communication itself
- Similarly, if we have collected and process your personal information on the basis of your consent, then you can withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawing your consent will not affect the lawfulness of any processing we conducted prior to your withdrawal, nor will it affect processing of your personal information conducted in reliance on lawful processing grounds other than consent.

11. Children & Minor persons
We strongly believe in protecting the privacy of children. In line with this belief, we may only collect and maintain personal information regarding persons under 18 years of age where consent of the parent/guardian is given.
No part of the application is directed to persons under 18 years of age. If you are under 18 years of age, then please do not use or access the application at any time or in any manner. We will take appropriate steps to delete any personal information of persons less than 18 years of age.
